Some doubtless very fancy diplomatic footwork has resulted in the (by UN standards) very quick passage of a No Fly Zone (actually also a no tank or big gun zone) resolution by the Security Council. France and the UK are to be congratulated for pushing the US - kicking if not screaming - into supporting it and getting Russia and China not to veto it. But now it needs to be applied with vigor and expedition. The hours and days ahead will show what preparation has been made already.
All of this is happening much later than it should be, of course. It reminds me (Yes, I AM that old!) of the betrayal of the uprising in Hungary in 1956. Atleast the words of support should now be followed up with action, the Obama administration being shamed into supporting it by Britain, France, and the Arab League. Let's just hope it isn't already too late.
